The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer's Welfare has put a draft of Seeds Bill, 2019 in the public domain for feedback and comments. Availability of good quality seeds to farmers is a necessary condition for boosting agricultural output. The bill seeks to promote the production and supply of quality seeds through registration of seeds and adherence to certain minimum standards by seed vendors. The draft Bill will replace the 1966 Seeds Act.
