Topic Description:
Currently, dental education and professionals are regulated by the Dental Council of India. The government has proposed a Draft National Dental Commission Bill, 2020 which seeks to remove DCI and replace it with a National Dental Commission. The Bill also proposes to set up four autonomous boards and a Dental Advisory Council. The Draft Bill comes after the National Medical Commission Act which similarly replaced the Medical Council of India.
