Topic Description:

Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat has recently spelled out the road map for restructuring the armed forces . While the Air Defence Command led by Indian Air Force will be rolled out by early 2021, a study will be commissioned by the end of March this year to explore the idea of having an Indian Ocean centred Peninsular Command by merging the Eastern and Western Naval Commands. Another study on theatrisation of commands will be in place by the end of this year. Based on the recommendations theatre commands are likely to roll out by 2022.
