Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday received the ‘Global Goalkeeper Award 2019' instituted by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for his ambitious Swachh Bharat Mission launched in 2014.

The award recognises the Prime Minister's single-minded pursuit of the goal to improve sanitation and bring about a positive transformation in the lives of millions of people.

Dedicating the award to the 130 crore Indians, the Prime Minister credited them for transforming the Swachh Bharat campaign into a people's movement.

The Goal Keepers award is in recognition of just one of the many Goals that the prime minister has tried to achieve for India by moulding and shaping public opinion and in the process turning them into mass movements.
