Food is the most fundamental need for human beings. Unfortunately, more than 820 million people worldwide go hungry everyday.

A new UN report says that 10.8% of the world's population does not have enough to eat. That means one in every nine people globally faces hunger on a daily basis.

People facing chronic hunger do not have access to enough food to maintain healthy and productive lives.

Further, nearly 2 billion people across the world do not have regular access to safe, nutritious and sufficient food.

This fact underscores the immense challenge to achieving the Zero Hunger target of the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
