The Indian Railways has witnessed significant growth in recent years. The focus of the government over the last few years has been on long-term infrastructure building, enhancing the capacity and connectivity of Railways, and its modernisation. One among them was Train 18 - or the Vande Bharat Express. The first engine-less, semi-high speed train from New Delhi to Varanasi was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February this year.

On October 3, the second such train from New Delhi to Shri Vaishno Devi Katra was inaugurated by Home Minister Amit Shah.
