In a virtual meeting of ISRO, Atal Innovation Mission and NITI Aayog, held on 11th January, 2021 decision was taken to adopt 100 Atal Tinkering Labs across the country to promote scientific temperament among students and inspire them for space education and space technology-related innovations.
About
Through this collaboration, ISRO will promote and guide the students’ in advanced 21st-century cutting-edge technologies, including those related to space too.
The students will be provided both theoretical and practical knowledge and application based knowledge of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and concepts of space education such as Electronics, Physics, Optics, Space Technology, Material sciences, etc.
Over 7000 ATLs have been established by Atal Innovation Mission and NITI Aayog empowering 3 million students from class 6 to 12 to obtain a problem solving, tinkering and innovative outlook.
The scientist and engineers from ISRO will mentor the
students and also interact with the teachers of ATLs to give a boost to
experiments, brainstorming and generating understanding about space and related
activities.
Through Atal Innovation Mission and its initiatives, ISRO is going to make
advancement in space technology.
Atal Innovation Mission is a flagship initiative set up by the NITI Aayog to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in the country. Its objective is to create a facilitating environment for transformation of ideas into innovative and impactful solutions at schools, universities, research institutions, MSME and industry levels across the country.
Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs) – The ATL initiative is aimed at disrupting the Indian education system, creating a paradigm shift where children as young as 12 years of age are being introduced to the world of technology innovation. ATLs are boosting a culturally different micro-environment in Indian schools, which allows them to work in their area of interest without a fixed curriculum. With ATL, problem solving has become an integral part of student behavior. The tinkering lab mission is fueling a nationwide mass movement and creating millions of young high school innovators at the grassroots.
