All about India's partnership with other countries for its Gaganyaan mission

According to ISRO, International cooperation is a strategic area for a space programme because relationships with other countries are influenced by political, economic, cultural, and human personality factors as well as scientific and technological factors. India has always recognized that space has dimension beyond national considerations, which can only be addressed along with international partners. Over the years, as ISRO has matured in experience and technological capabilities, the scope for cooperation has become multifaceted.

India australia cooperation and gaganyaan mission :

The Deputy Head of Australia Space Agency Anthony Murfett recently said that Australia will support India's Gaganyaan mission by tracking it through Cocos Keeling island. ISRO chief K Sivan had already said that the space agency ISRO is in talks with the Australian counterpart to have a ground station at the Cocos Keeling islands for the Gaganyaan mission.

The the space agencies of India and Australia have recently updated their Memorandum of Understanding on space cooperation.

India russia and Gaganyaan :

The memorandum of understanding was signed between Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and the Federal Space Agency of Russia (ROSCOSMOS) in 2018 on russia's cooperation for indias Gaganyaan mission.

The two sides have also signed an agreement on 'joint activities in the field of human spaceflight programme'. With this Russia extended cooperation in India's efforts to send a manned space mission by 2022.

The four cosmonauts shortlisted for Gaganyaan, India's first manned space mission, have completed their training in Russia, according to an official Russian statement released in march 2021.

The contract for the training of Indian candidates for space flight between the Glavkosmos company (part of the Roscosmos State Corporation) and the Manned Space Flight Center of the Indian Space Research Organisation was signed on June 27, 2019.

Cosmonaut Training Center named after Yuri Gagarin on February 10, 2020 began the planned training of Indian cosmonaut candidates.

Glavkosmos, a subsidiary of the Roscosmos, the space agency of the Russian federations, announced on September 7 that Zvezda, a research and development enterprise, has started manufacturing space suits for Indian astronauts, who are likely to be part of the Gaganyaan mission. Glavkosmos CEO Dmitry Loskutov said, “On September 3, Indian cosmonauts who have been training for a spaceflight in Russia under the contract of Glavkosmos, visited Zvezda, where their anthropometric parameters were measured for the subsequent production of spacesuits.”

India and France space cooperation and Gaganyaan mission :

Space agencies of India and France have signed an agreement for cooperation for the former's first human space mission, Gaganyaan in 2018 and its a move that will enable Indian flight physicians to train at French facilities.

French space agency CNES and ISRO have released their joint statement on space vision in 2018 itself. under the agreement, equipment developed by it, tested and still operating aboard the International Space Station (ISS) will be made available to Indian crews. The CNES will also be supplying fireproof carry bags made in France to shield equipment from shocks and radiation.

Under the terms of the agreement, CNES will train India's flight physicians and CAPCOM mission control teams in France at the CADMOS centre for the development of microgravity applications and space operations at CNES in Toulouse and at the European Astronaut Centre (EAC) in Cologne, Germany.

France has a well-established mechanism for space medicine. It also has the MEDES space clinic, a subsidiary of CNES, where space surgeons undergo training.
