Context:

The recently launched Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojana is designed to facilitate the installation of rooftop solar panels for consumers.

The primary objective of this scheme is to deliver electricity to households by harnessing solar energy through rooftop installations.

Additionally, the initiative provides extra compensation for surplus electricity generated by the solar panels.

Key Features:

The objective is to implement rooftop solar installations on one crore households, granting access to solar energy for one crore families.

This program aims to support economically disadvantaged and middle-income households, assisting them in lowering their electricity expenses.

The initiative is aligned with the government's Rooftop Solar Programme launched in 2014.

About solar rooftop system:

A Grid-connected Rooftop Photovoltaic system (GRPV) comprises solar modules, solar inverters, and additional electrical components like meters and cables.

These systems are installed on the rooftops of residential and commercial buildings, allowing them to generate solar power and seamlessly connect to the electricity grid.
