12 days after the dastardly terror attack on CRPF personnel in Pulwama , India struck back on 26 February with precision air strikes on the terror camps deep inside the Pakistani territory. In an intelligence led operation in the early hours Indian Air Force struck the biggest training camp of Jaish-e-Mohammad in Balakot.

Briefing the media a few hours after the air strike , Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale said a very large number of Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists, trainers, senior commanders and groups of jihadis who were being trained for fidayeen action were eliminated in this operation. Significantly this terror camp at Balakot was headed by MAULANA YOUSUF AZHAR alias USTAD GHOURI who is the brother-in-law of Jaish chief MASOOD AZHAR.

According to media reports this operation was conducted by at least a dozen Mirage 2000 aircrafts of the IAF and the including the takeoff and return time it took them only 20 minutes to conduct this strike.
